Weekly Cuts in Arrowsmith:
May 17 - Sat 1-3 Errington: Grafton and Errington Road (look for signs)
May 9 - Fri 1-3: Grafton Ave at Station Rd
May 2 - Fri 1-3 Errington: Alberni Hwy and Errington Road

June 7 from 10-1:00: BIG CUT on Horne Lake Road, with help of the RDN Rec Dept of Bowser

Such a massive amount of land in the RDN.
It seems that the best strategy is to work where we live. And that's what's happening. Especially along Alberni Hwy, Grafton Ave and Errington Road.

Road Guardians
Those of us outside the townships have the strong support from the Ministry of Transportation. So we are all encouraged to hit the streets with our loppers, and cut down broom along the roads and highways of our beloved Island.

The Ministry of Transportation wants to make it possible for us to just cut the broom, and leave beside the road. They will pick it up after it dries a few weeks. In order to make this work, they ask that we do it in a semi-organized fashion, so that they can pick up large quantities at a time! (Small quantities of cut broom can just be left in the brush.)

So here is our strategy.
Choose a road, or piece of a road. Email me and let me know where you will be cutting. Contact your neighbors and friends - and make your little piece of paradise "Broom Free." Even if you only donate two hours a year, our collective efforts will have a huge impact!

HOW TO CUT BROOM? The procedure is explained on the main page of the website. Home. Use loppers, and cut it to the ground. It goes so quickly! Leave the broom close to the road, but not on the shoulder. That's it.

Some possible roads are listed in the column to the right. You can name your own road, or join in and sign up to help on one of the roads listed - even if there are already names listed. Most of these roads need TEAMS of people to become Broom Free.
