2013 Community Broom Cuts - Finished!

In May-June 2013, there were about 500 Broombuster volunteers who went out to cut broom in mid-Vancouver Island, clearing dozens of parks and roadways during over 40 community cuts, from Campbell River, south to Nanaimo and west to Port Alberni.  Broombusters helps communities organize cuts, but local volunteers cut the broom where they live.  Qualicum Beach started in 2006 and is almost broom free now.  In 2013, the Port Alberni Rotary Club started the Broombusting effort around the Alberni Valley Multiplex and Alberni District Secondary School.

When Joanne Sales of Qualicum approached Campbell River City Council to present the need for clearing the community of broom the CiB group could not resist the call to action.
