Community Cuts in Ladysmith
The Town of Ladysmith Invasive Species Advisory Committee and Broombusters will be hosting an invasive plant removal party on April 22nd from 1:50pm to 4:50 pm., at Transfer Beach upper Arbutus Trail. Everyone is welcome to join us in celebrating Earth Day and Canada 150 together this year. Our goal is to remove 150 pieces of Broom and free 150 trees from English Ivy during this event.
Some gloves and cutting tools will be available, but if you have your own please bring them along. Volunteers will be on-site to demonstrate the techniques for successful plant removal, as well as answer questions on invasive plant management. There was a good turn out on April 22nd.
Our next areas of concern for Broombusters will be a continuation of last year around Forrest Field, and possibly some areas along the Holland Creek Trail.
Ladysmith is finished cutting for 2017. We need more volunteers in 2018. Please let us know if you can help organize and participate!
Please contact April for more information.
