PARKSVILLE TRAIN STATION: July was the 100 anniversary of the Parksville Train Station. The train station is the first thing you see when you drive into Parksville, on the ocean.
Volunteers took on the mission of clearing the broom from around the trainstation building, and as much of the tracks as possible. You can see the train coming into Station in the photo below.
The end of the day. In the photo of Gord (left), you can see a long stretches of tracks that have been cleared.

The man in this photo below was the man who told Broombusters in 2006 - If you cut the broom in bloom, it will die. A train enthusiast, he has been clearing the tracks for years!
Thanks for the tip! Behind him, you can see the broom that has swept over a field. That huge field was forested until about 2006, when private owners cleared it. Without care,
the broom has taken over. Wish we could have the trees back! (Broom does not grow in dense shade.)

Below you see Ed, a former school teacher, working at the Train Station in Parksville. Four year ago, Ed took on the mission
to clear the broom on all Errington Roads near his home on Price Road. It's amazing what he has done. Thank you Ed!
When he is working on his own, Broombusters arranges the cut broom pick up for him (by the Ministry of Transportation).
