Ladysmith Community Cuts  2024

More cuts will be added if someone can volunteer to lead the cut for a day.   Could you do that?  Wear Long pants, a long sleeved shirt, and sturdy shoes. Bring water and a hat.

April 11, Friday. 2:00 – 4:00 pm.  Transfer Beach.  Meet in the parking lot on Warf Rd, here.  We will check what we did last year and continue to the south and back along the boundary with the rail line.

April 14, Sunday. 10:00 am – 2:00 pm.  Volunteer Fair at Aggie Hall here. Come and chat with us at the YES/Broombuster/Kiwi Food Bank Garden stand.

May 3, Friday. 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. Holland Creek Estuary.  Meet by the Ladysmith sign on Roland Rd,.here.  We will continue to clear both sides of the creek up to the rail line (which has been partially mowed!!).

May 12, Sunday, 10:30 am to 12:30 pm.  Probably Upper Holland Creek or Holland Creek Estates, meet up TBA.  Holland Creek Estate is a fairly new invasion and best caught early, if the residents there need help.  Upper Holland Creek has outliers and some tough slopes to deal with and border the right of ways (which have been mowed).

May 17, Friday. 10:30 am to 12:30 pm.  Possibly start on Arbutus Hump, meet up TBA. This borders the right of ways and will become part of the park.  We can investigate the hump, while working on Upper Holland Creek.

Make plans for cut broom removal before you cut!  Unfortunately, MOTI is not able to remove broom cut on the highways.  If you contact Broombusters in advance, sometimes we can help.  At the very least, we can offer advice on cut broom disposal.  To be a Broombuster, contact Broombusters first!  Cut at your own risk. Be safe and have fun!

Cut ANYTIME AREAS in Ladysmith 2023

We welcome those of you who are new to broombusting! Feel free to come to any (or all!) of the community cuts. We cut as a group for a couple of hours.  You can come late or leave early if that is best for you. There is no need to let me know if you are coming (or not coming) to a community cut – just show up when you have time in your schedule.  There are also opportunities for you to cut on your own after coordinating with Nikki, the area organizer.
